At the 2024 SMMI Conference held at the Suwon Convention Center in December, Yoon Joo-hyun (a master's student in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Kookmin University) won the 'Outstanding Poster Presentation Award' at the 2024 SMMI Conference.

The Society for Medicinal Manufacturing Innovation, which organized the conference, is a representative society in the field of pharmaceutical manufacturing innovation based on digital transformation in Korea. It held an academic conference to discuss ways to secure competitiveness and promote innovation in the field of bio-manufacturing in Korea under the theme of “Digital transformation-based manufacturing and development innovation in the healthcare industry.”

At this conference, Master's student Yoon Joo-hyun presented a research on designing a formulation based on QbD for the rare public drug Amiodarone finished drug to improve the flowability of granules while also making changes to make it suitable for continuous process production. This research was praised as research that should be developed in the future pharmaceutical industry or is essential for the industry, and was honored with the award for research needed by the pharmaceutical industry.

Professor Joo-eun Kim of the Department of Applied Chemistry at Kookmin University, who was the advisor, said, “I think it is very meaningful that my student won a big award at the conference of the Korean Society for Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, which represents the field of digital manufacturing innovation in Korea,” and “I will continue to make various efforts to produce research results in the fields of innovative pharmaceutical manufacturing and industrial pharmacy that are meaningful for promoting public health.”
