Professor Kim Joo-eun of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Division of Bio-Pharmaceuticals at Kookmin University (President Jung Seung-ryul) received the 'Excellent Paper Award' at the 2024 Korean Pharmaceutical Association General Meeting and International Conference held at the The-K Hotel in Yangjae-dong, Seoul on Wednesday, November 27.

The Outstanding Paper Award was given to the paper published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation, the journal of the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This award is given to researchers who have made significant contributions to the development of new pharmaceutical technologies and the advancement of industrial pharmacy, based on the results of the 2024 Korean Pharmaceutical Society International Conference Awards Committee. Professor Kim Joo-eun is an authority in the fields of pharmaceutical and industrial pharmacy. Based on her experience of developing pharmaceuticals for more than 20 years at a large pharmaceutical company and university, she was selected as the winner for her contribution to the frontier of advanced pharmacy by submitting an excellent paper on perfluorocarbon-based nano-oxygen carriers, along with the development of platform technology that enables the design of new pharmaceutical formulations and manufacturing processes. As a result of her active research activities, she has a total of 100 achievements, including SCI papers and patents, and industry technology transfer.

Currently, he is a professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Kookmin University's College of Applied Chemistry. He worked at the Central Research Institute of Yuhan Corporation, the largest pharmaceutical company in Korea, for 13 years, and at the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering at Daegu Catholic University for five years. He is currently a member of the professional/planning/advisory/evaluation committees of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Planning and Evaluation, and is also the secretary general of the Society for Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and the vice-chairman of the R&D Promotion Committee of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association.

The 2024 International Conference of the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences is designed to provide a wide range of exchanges on the latest research trends in domestic and international pharmaceutical science and industry, and academic achievements in the field of convergence pharmaceutical science. For three days from November 27 to 29, various sessions were held, including keynote lectures by overseas speakers, special symposiums, thematic symposiums, exhibition booths, and the awarding of the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea Awards.
