KORA participates in F-SAE competition 2012

On April 17th, the automotive engineering club KORA at Kookmin University made a bold sound of its car engines. Since then, they had a ceremony to participate in the Formula-SAE competition hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). KORA is the acronym for KOokmin RAcing and this club is comprised of full-spirited students majoring in automotive engineering who have a passion for automobiles. Formula-SAE is the international competition for automobile maniacs from around the world. This year, 118 teams participated and it was held in Michigan for 4 days from May 9 to May 12. KORA ranked 13th in 2007 (2nd in Asia), 49th in 2008, 10th in 2009 (1st in Asia), and 10th in 2010 (1st in Asia) in its history. Moreover, this is really something in that they entered the top 10, beating prestigious universities such as MIT, and UC Berkeley. In this ceremony, there was an introduction and test drive of the automobiles entered in the competition with President Yu Ji Soo, Vice-President Shin, Cha-gyun, Dean of the Automotive Engineering Graduate School Park Gi-hong, the Dean of Engineering, among other professors and directors in attendance. President Yu Ji Soo encouraged students saying: “Let’s set a goal to enter the top 5 in rankings in order to inspire our school’s and Korea’s status. Also, I hope you become influential students representing the global era.”
It is be expected that KORA, the club set to drive the automotive industry, will receive another good ranking.
