Prof. Sung-Soo Lim, chosen by The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) to perform a 3.5 billion-won project

The research team of Prof. Sungsoo Lim (Embedded Systems and High-performance Computing, Head supervisor: Sungsoo Lim) was appointed in 2011 ~ supported by MKE.

This team will be supported with about 3.5 billion won from MKE for 5 years starting from December 2011. They will build a consortium with domestic and foreign research teams including the University of California at Irvine and the University of Pennsylvania, having a goal of developing “core software technology for guaranteed trustworthy and extreme safety” and for training human power that has competitiveness.

They will cooperate with the research team that possesses the world’s top technology skills in order to develop the core technology of real-time system software and system software that is the weakness of domestic software technology. Its goal is to increase the level of research and development of the College of Computer Science to the global level through exchange of technology and human power. The software technology they will be obtaining will be practiced mostly in Mission Critical Systems such as automobile, aircraft, weapon systems, robots etc, and they plan to continuously make up cooperation systems with research institutions and companies in these areas.

This area of “Cyber Physical Systems” which is greatly focused on, especially in Europe and America, will correlate with the status of the computer system software of the globe and provide Kookmin University an opportunity to play an important role in the international community.
