Professor Seong Han-gyeong (International Trade Dept.) and the Joint Research Team consisting of Professor Hong Seong-geol (Administration & Policy Dept.), Professor Lee Sang-jun (International Affairs Dept.), and Professor Kim Sang-won (International Affairs Dept.) were selected as the researchers for Russia and India Cooperation Projects.

Professor Seong Han-gyeong was selected as the researcher for KIEP Strategic Territory In-depth Research project, which is aimed at the accumulation and diffusion of comprehensive and in-depth knowledge for the emerging territory having great potential in economic cooperation hosted by KIEP, that is, 「Strategic Territory In-depth Research Project」 titled as “Study on Industrial Cooperation Method through expansion of Korea-India CEPA” for the period of about 8 months from 1st April 2013 through 30th November 2013 with the fund amounting to 40 million won.

Relevant to the paradigm of creative economy pursued by the Ministry of Future Creation and Science centered on ICT, this project is intended to explore a cooperative method to develop ICT industry where both countries have competitiveness. For this reason, the professor is expected to thoroughly analyze the effect and method of ICT activation in terms of mutual Win-Win strategy.

Especially the professor will analyze the macro-economic/industrial benefit of both countries through ICT industry activation with the use of Korea-India CEPA from dynamic aspect, and analyze ICT industry competitiveness in both countries to initiate a creative economy, and thereby focus on the area where synergistic effect can be realized between both countries through concrete industrial cooperation.

Joint Research Team consisting of Professor Hong Seong-geol (Administration & Policy Dept.), Professor Lee Sang-jun (International Affairs Dept.), and Professor Kim Sang-won (International Affairs Dept.) was selected as the researcher for “Study on Modernization of Russian Economy and Korea-Russia Cooperation Method” aimed at the bilateral industrial cooperation project to establish the foundation for trade and investment expansion by building the infrastructure for industrial resource cooperation and companion-based economic cooperation relation with major country hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry ＆ Energy for the period of about 8 months from 1st April 2013 through 30th November 2013 with the fund amounting to 30 million won.

In this project, the team is going to explore the economic cooperation project using the industrial structure of both countries under complementary relation rather than the framework of trade-oriented cooperation during that time in order to comply with the necessity and demand of Russia for establishing Korea-Russia Economic Five-Year Plan, and thereby derive the economic cooperation method that may open up a new horizon for economic cooperation between the two countries.

Especially, the team will focus on the similarity between the national political projects of each country such as Korea’s low-carbon green growth vision and new growth engine cultivation policy, Russia’s economic modernization policy, etc. and concentrate in establishing the successful cooperation model in the area of common interest for a new take-off in economic cooperation between both countries.
