Kookmin University Professor Min Kyung-shik selected by Ministry of Education for Korea-Italy collaboration project

The state-sponsored project is titled “Memristor-based Hybrid Cellular System for Neural Applications,” and will receive a research grant of 89,965,000 won over the span of 36 months, from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2016.
The project will open doors for joint international research between Kookmin University and Italy’s Politecnico di Torino. Professor Min has accumulated considerable knowledge and expertise on circuit modeling and emulation circuit design through his experience at the memory development department in Hynix Semiconductor as well as his research on various memory circuits at the university, ranging from SRAM to DRAM, ReRAM, and PCRAM. Furthermore, Professor Min has also been extensively involved in the design of analog circuits and synaptic weighting circuits in cellular neural networks.
The research head of the Italian institution is Professor F. Corinto, who has received his doctorate degree at Politecnico di Torino and has been conducting research on non-linear circuit analysis. Non-linear circuit analysis is frequently used in interpreting neural network circuits.
