Students Dong Gun Lee, Woojong Noh, Junchae Yoon, Sunchan Lee, and Seungwook Cho from the Department of Construction and Systems Engineering won the silver prize for their work "Floating City" at the 27th Civil Engineering Day 2024 Civil Structure Model Contest held by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers on March 29th. 

The contest was held for the 27th time this year with the aim of inducing interest and understanding in the field of civil engineering by creatively producing models of structures in various fields of civil engineering, such as bridges, dams, marine structures, and smart cities, and instilling the importance and contribution of civil engineering to the public. This year's silver award winner is a city that utilizes floating bridges and artificial islands to respond to rising sea levels due to climate change.

"We tried to provide a positive solution by designing artificial islands and floating bridges as a solution to sea level rise due to climate change," said Lee Dong-gun, the team leader. "By designing bridges, roads, etc. with cad and 3D printing them, we were able to acquire a little bit of future technology, and it was a valuable time for us to have the mindset to become future civil engineers.
