Our students currently participating in the second edition of the SEA:ME program in Germany are achieving excellent results for the second year in a row.
The SEA:ME program is an applied coding course that takes a holistic approach to mobility and is a global program sponsored by Volkswagen Group of Korea to develop knowledgeable and creative talent to drive the digitalization of the automobile. It is currently operated by Woori University, which is the host university of the Future Automotive Consortium of the Innovation Convergence University Project in High-tech Fields.
The program has achieved remarkable results in two years. At the 'Bosch Connected Experience (BCX) Hackathon 2024' held in February, a team led by our student Ho-Kyung Park won first place in the Digital Auto and Mobility category.
As it is recognized as the largest IoT competition in the world, the participating students said, "It was very meaningful for us to utilize and experience the LLM technology firsthand, and it was a really valuable result that we achieved together with our teammates," and "we felt that we need to continue studying to be more competitive in the rapidly changing automotive market."
In November of last year, our students, Da-hyun Ko, Ho-Kyung Park, and Junho Kim, formed a team, Millennium, to participate in the Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Hackathon Challenge 2023 and won the third place. The competition utilizes the open source software stack of Eclipse SDV to solve the challenge tasks, and the team developed a shared vehicle management solution.
The participating students said, "We were nervous because it was our first hackathon overseas, but we were able to achieve good results with the cooperation of our teammates, and we are glad to have had a meaningful experience by expanding our understanding and knowledge of the SDV field through the SEA:ME program."
In addition, students Dae-Kyung Na, Je-Hyung Park, Dong-Hwan Seo, Seung-Woo Lee, and Jae-Ha Lee, who participated in the competition as the 'Oridori' team, developed a driving score evaluation program and advanced to the Top 7 finalists.
"We are very pleased to see the successful expansion of Volkswagen Group Korea's SW Talent Development Program for Future Automotive (SEA:ME), and we will actively support students to acquire global competencies and develop innovative ideas and creative thinking," said Dr. Jeong Seung Ryul, President of Volkswagen Group Korea.
"We are proud of the great experiences and achievements our students are making overseas through the SEA:ME program, and we will continue to support them in strengthening their professional and practical capabilities," said Shin Sung-hwan, Head of the Future Vehicle Business Unit.
