Unlike competitions in Korea that are promoted based on business plan, angel investors who support startup funds for young entrepreneurs, startup accelerators that support startup businesses, professors majoring in business startup in the States, successful entrepreneurs, and persons interested in the L.A. office of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) participated in the event as the judges of the Global Student Startup Challenge 2014. Since the students presented their own business plans in English and were evaluated through question and answer by the startup-related experts in the States, it is considered to be a meaningful stride towards global business startup.

Among about 10 participating teams from Korea, the Creation Pot won the award with the highest score and secured the second rank among all participating teams in the States. The student startup team of Kookmin University prepared for this event for about 4 months with other teams that passed the preliminary in the university by taking education provided in the Council of Startup Education Centers.

Moreover, the students who were selected from 10 universities in Korea developed their business plans based on unique ideas while receiving mentoring from venture capitalists and angel investors in the States like Professor Mark Cannis specialized in business startup and Roger Chen specialized in startup strategy from the University of San Francisco.

Manager Do-hyeon Kim of the Employment Support Team that had supported the students to display their capacity said, “The creativity of the student startup team of Kookmin University is excellent and through such splendid achievement of this event, the students had a chance to understand and experience the advantages and versatility of global venture startup. It will serve as a strong foundation for them to become a successful entrepreneur in the future.

The K-Unit Team (Team Manager Seong-min Oh / College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science majoring in Electrical Engineering) that participated in the same event also had an excellent achievement securing the top 6.
