Oriental Culture & Design Center held OCDC International Conference

On June 2, 2011 OCDC International Conference was held under the auspices of the Oriental Culture & Design Center in the university auditorium. It aimed at the establishment of Korea, China, and Japan's design identities. This successful event focused on the ‘wind and soil.’ More than 250 people attended, including domestic and foreign professors, business leaders and designers.
After the welcoming speech of Dr. Sung Woo Lee, the President of Kookmin University and the congratulatory address of the former Deputy Mayor of Seoul, Professor Young Gul Kwon, keynote speeches by Professor Lee Sang-hae of Sungkyunkwan University, Kurokawa Masayuki of Kurokawa Studio and Professor Pangsayopeong of Tsinghua University in China followed.
After the session, Guk-hyeon Jeong (Dean of SADI), Hye-won Son (President of Crosspoint), Norihico Dan (Japanese architect), Kay Sato (Prof. of Illinois Univ.), Shuzi Hookao (of LIXIL), and Kyung-ha Han (President of Woofer Design) participated in the discussion and question & answer period about Korea, China, and Japan's designs.
Under the auspices of Hansaem, the Conference planned a two-night three-day workshop, which began with the elucidation of Sunghyulsa (Sunghyul temple) by Professor Sang-hae Lee. There was also a trip to historical sites such as Bongjeongsa temple, Hahyoe village, Memorial Hall of Byungsan, Bulguksa, Kwey-nung, and Yangdong village. After the trip, presentations and in-depth discussions about the theme 'wind and soil' were held among the designers until late evening.
