The Kookmin University Campus Town Project Team announced on the 14th that it was recognized for its excellence in supporting startups by receiving the highest grade of A+ in the 2024 Campus Town Performance Evaluation recently conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Seoul metropolitan government is comprehensively analyzing and evaluating the past performance of the startup-type and unit-type campus town projects. The Kookmin University Campus Town Project Team is the fifth unit-type project team, and it has received high scores in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations for its active activities in various fields, including fostering startup talent, fostering startup companies, and revitalizing the local community.

This performance evaluation was conducted in four categories: fostering startup talent, fostering startup companies, revitalizing local communities, and specialized startups. In the category of fostering startup talent, the evaluation was based on the number of startup converters, the scale of startup support projects selected, participation in startup fostering programs, and satisfaction with startup fostering programs. In the startup incubation category, the evaluation was based on the following: achievement of the mandatory on-campus startup ratio, management and operation of resident companies, resident company satisfaction, resident company participation, resident and graduated company survival rate, resident company investment attraction, and resident company sales growth rate. In the regional revitalization category, the evaluation was based on the expansion of cooperation with autonomous districts and the establishment of a virtuous cycle system for regional co-prosperity. Finally, in the specialized startup category, the evaluation was based on the performance of the specialized startup fields that the university is intensively fostering.

In particular, the Seoul Metropolitan Government highly praised the achievements of the Kookmin University Campus Town in specialized startup fields such as deep tech (AI, big data, bio, and health) and ESG social ventures. The excellent evaluation was due to the fact that the start-ups had created tangible results such as being converted to companies, passing global support projects, and securing intellectual property rights. In addition, the university and local government actively cooperated to build a local win-win model, such as fostering youth and young start-up talents through a regional start-up fostering program and pioneering sales channels for local market merchants, and the excellent establishment of a virtuous cycle system for local win-win was also positively evaluated.

Based on these achievements, the Kookmin University Campus Town Project Team will be awarded the Merit Award for Outstanding University Institutions from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Kookmin University Campus Town Project Team has demonstrated rapid results by achieving the highest rating in just two years since the launch of the Campus Town Project in 2023. The team plans to continue discovering and fostering outstanding start-up companies and planning and operating high-quality programs to create a virtuous cycle of the start-up ecosystem.
