Ta Ri Son, Jeong Ah Ryu and Su Yeon Jeong from Metalwork/Jewelry design lab at the Graduate School of Techno Design, Kookmin University received the grand prize (Minister's Prize from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, prize money of 5 million won) in promotions at the 6th World Jewelry Design Contest. The Korean Jewelry Manufactures' Association holds a World Jewelry Design Contest under the patronage of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The contest is designed for promoting novel and potential manpower cooperation, for creating the value of domestic brands and for the development of the metalwork industry through exchange and collaboration with metalwork business circles.

As for the promotion section in the World Jewelry Design Contest, eight jewelry manufacturers chose one subject among each that had proposed and recommended a promotion method. A total of 26 teams reached the preliminaries and the final eight teams competed in the final. The Metalwork/Jewelry team from the Graduate School of Techno Design, Kookmin University suggested "Trinity.F", a jewelry brand targeting women in their 30's and 40's with the theme of developing a second brand, requested by the Jewering Corp.

In this proposal, a design direction of colored jewels with a sophisticated design of colored diamonds and gold jewelry was presented with three different abstracts and the city of Florence in the background. In addition, the overall brand management of a triangle structure with the team members being the focal point drew attention since it has never been used in a jewelry marketing structure.

The winners stated: "Trinity.F overcame the recession in the jewelry industry and will be the new direction of jewelry brands because it is future-oriented and can attract prospective customers."

The award ceremony took place on December 3rd at the Korea Federation of Jewelry Industries.
