Participated in CES 2024 as a consortium of innovative convergence universities in the field of next-generation communication

Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) announced that the Next Generation Communication Business Unit participated in the 'CES 2024' held in Las Vegas, USA in January to exhibit the results of the joint education program of the Innovation Convergence University Consortium in the field of next generation communication.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 was held in Las Vegas, USA from January 9th to 12th, and is the world's largest consumer electronics expo with more than 4,300 visitors and 1,400 companies from more than 150 countries around the world.

Over the past year, the five universities comprising the consortium (Kookmin University, Seoul National University, Ulsan National University of Science and Technology, Chonnam National University, and Korea Airlines) and Gwangju Metropolitan City have formed an inter-university council to develop and operate joint curricula to expand students' educational options and build a national-level high-tech talent training system. In particular, they have focused on supporting high-end laboratory training through field-based problem-solving education such as capstone design and the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP).

The nine teams that participated in CES 2024, including KOSPAI Team - K-SN Drone Tech Team - HbA1c Team, Aplus Team of Seoul National University, UCIT Narshya Team of Ulsan National University of Science and Technology, Jamong Tech Team - NOW Team - RNC Team of Jeonnam National University, and Blue Seed Team of Korea Aerospace University, showcased their creative products and ideas in the field of next-generation communication convergence such as drones, artificial intelligence (AI), satellite communication, robots, and metaverse, with the support of the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and drew favorable comments from local officials.

Students who participated in CES 2024 were also enthusiastic. K-SN Drone Tech team from Kookmin University said, "It was a very valuable time to learn what industrialists are currently thinking," and Jamong Tech team from Chonnam National University said, "It was a great opportunity to learn the latest technology and break out of the limitations of indirect knowledge." Narshya from Ulsan National University of Science and Technology said, "It was a great opportunity to become a global talent," and Blue Seed from Korea Aerospace University said, "CES helped us think about the future with the projects we worked on."

"We want to provide real education for students to explore various paths, experience diverse opportunities, and discover infinite possibilities," said Park Joon-seok, head of the Next Generation Communication Business Unit at Kookmin University (professor of electronics engineering), who organized the program. "Based on this experience, we will continue to do our best to support students' products and ideas to connect not only technology transfer but also startups on the global stage."
