IVSP Lab: Researching Core Technologies for Autonomous Driving Professor Jinwoo Yoo operates the Intelligent Vehicle and Signal Processing Lab (IVSP Lab), which covers the entire ‘Perception–Decision–Control’ process, the core of autonomous driving technology. Based on his research experience at major domestic research institutions, he is currently focusing on precisely enhancing the performance of autonomous driving technology through real vehicle experiments and simulation-based verification. The lab particularly utilizes Vehicle-In-the-Loop Simulation(VILS) technology, creating a system that implements actual vehicle environments in a simulation space to conduct repetitive experiments under various driving conditions. This plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and reliability for the commercialization of autonomous driving systems. Student-Centered Research, Emphasis on Field-Linked Education “Beyond simply learning technology, the experience of defining and solving problems firsthand is crucial.” Professor Yoo guides students through research to deeply understand the principles of technology and actively respond to diverse problem situations. He provides opportunities for students to gain practical experience through industry-academia collaboration with companies, and the research lab also functions as a space for nurturing talent. Competitiveness of Kookmin University's Department of Automobile and IT Convergence Kookmin University's Department of Automotive IT Convergence has grown alongside the domestic automotive industry and has many graduates actively working in the industrial field. Professor Yoo states, “The experiences of our alumni serve as a practical guide for current students,” and finds the department's strengths in its close ties with the industry and its practical education system. Towards Research That Leads the Future Professor Yoo plans to actively incorporate the latest technologies such as AI, reinforcement learning, and end-to-end autonomous driving into his future research. Autonomous driving technology is expected to become the center of the future mobility industry, and his lab aims to become a competitive laboratory leading next-generation technologies. “AI and autonomous driving technology will fundamentally change our daily lives. We are creating that future at Kookmin University.” Department of Automobile and IT Convergence Homepage Professor Yoo Jin-woo's Research Lab Homepage
