Professor Youn hee Kim of the Department of Convergence Design Technology at the Graduate School of General Studies, Kookmin University, has won the Best Work Award at the 2025 Korean Society of Basic Design International Invitational Exhibition in Girona.

The exhibition took place from June 27 to July 4, 2025, at the University School of Arts ERAM in Girona, Spain, under the theme “Various Perspectives on Basic Design & Art.” Over 10 countries, including Korea, Japan, Germany, the UK, and Thailand, participated, showcasing the expanded possibilities of basic design and art.

Professor Kim Youn-hee's work, “Interactive Light Dress,” combines traditional denim material with textile sensor technology to provide an interactive fashion experience where LED lights respond to the movements of viewers. This work goes beyond simple clothing to attempt real-time communication with the audience, earning high praise as an experimental art piece that breaks down the boundaries between fashion and technology.

The award winner has been at the forefront of fusion design fields such as smart fashion, electronic textiles, and emotional technology interfaces. This award is recognized as international acknowledgment of her creativity and practical research achievements. Professor Kim Yoon-hee stated, “I hope that students in the Fusion Design Technology Department will grow into creative practitioners who bridge technology and design to create connections that have never existed before,” expressing her anticipation for jointly exploring the future possibilities of smart fashion.
