Kookmin University opened an online exhibition space K-art on April 5, and such space displays the works of university alumni. The online gallery presents an exciting array of artworks ranging from fine arts to ceramics, as well as metalwork and architecture, by removing the physical barrier of time and space. The gallery also features online displays of designs that received prestigious and world-class awards in the likes of the Red Dot, iF, and IDEA. The artworks are categorized by field, award nominations, themes, graduate school, and artists so as to facilitate ease of navigation. The themed exhibition section will feature in-depth showings under special themes such as museum exhibits, works of Kim Su-geun, and other high profile art. The gallery news section will archive articles related to the works of Kookmin alumni.

The online gallery got its name through a contest held in January, which accepted ideas from both within and outside the university. Upon reviewing the 132 suggestions, we decided on K-art, which stands for Kookmin University and the art displayed through the online gallery. Such name also embodies our hope that the gallery will develop into another Korean (K) wave that has been gaining attention worldwide.
